Finally got the smoker assembled. Except for the vents on the bottom (which I really had to stretch across the curve of the drum), the kit came together really easily. A socket wrench really helps, though.
Tried to pick up 40 pounds of charcoal at the warehouse club (had a coupon and everything!), but they were out. All they had was match-light, and that’s just gross. Perma-lighter-fluid taste. Kingsford Blue seems to be the way to go, but I’m new to this charcoal game.
Planning on the first cook on Sunday, with a dry run on Saturday to get it dialed in to run at 225. I ordered a new thermometer today that’s supposed to get here tomorrow; thanks, Amazon Prime.
